An exhibition of works by Lithuanian national artist K. Navickas was opened at the Kazakhstan State Art Museum named after A. Kasteev
On March 27, 2024, an exhibition of works by the Lithuanian folk artist, master of paper cutting, Klaidas Navicks, was opened at the Art Museum of Kazakhstan named after A. Kasteev. The event began with a press conference, at which the scientific secretary of the museum, Ekaterina Reznikova made an opening speech. The assembled press representatives were greeted by the director of the museum - Gulaim Zhumabekova and the Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty, Gvidas Kerusauskas. The Lithuanian folk artist Klaidas Navickas and the ancient Lithuanian legends, depicted in his carvings, were presented by the Counsellor of the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania - Antanas Satas. The event participants were remotely congratulated by the author himself - Klaidas Navickas. The artist thanked for organizing the exhibition and briefly presented his works and the history of this art form.
At the opening of the exhibition guests were greeted by the head of the museum - Gulaim Zhumabekova and Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania - Gvidas Kerusauskas. The Consul General presented the director of the museum Gulayim Zhumabekova and the scientific secretary, Ekaterina Reznikova T-shirts, depicting the artist’s works, and the museum was presented with a work by K. Navickas entitled “Family”. Representatives of the Academy of Arts of Kazakhstan awarded Klaidas Navickas with a certificate of honor and a memorial sign, and the director of the A. Kasteev Art Museum presented a set of reproductions of works by Kazakh artists.
Diplomats, representatives of local business, culture and art, and representatives of the Lithuanian public who came to the opening of the exhibition were able to listen to the music of Lithuanian kankles, watch a live performance of ballet dance by Lithuanian girls - Sofia and Emilia, and enjoy Lithuanian snacks and sweets during the buffet.
The exhibition presents three thematic collections of paper carvings: “Legends of Vilnius”, “Birds”, “Legends of Lithuanian cities”, as well as several works by Lithuanian ceramics masters – Aldona Lickute-Jusionienė and Danutė Gobite-Daunorene, which belong to the museum and are protected by the museum‘s funds.
