Awardings of bowling tournament of the Lithuanian community in Almaty "Glory to the Heroes!"
On November 18, 25, and December 2, 2024, third year in a row the bowling tournament “Glory to the Heroes” was held in Almaty. The event was dedicated to support our Ukrainian brothers who have been heroically defending their homeland from Russian aggression for more than 1000 days. The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan - Egidijus Navikas and the Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in Kazakhstan - Sergei Pavlenko gave the speech to the event participants.
After 3 intense rounds of the tournament, the team “Gelezinis vilkas” of the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty scored the most points and won the first place, the second place won the team of the Lithuanian Community in Almaty, and the third place was taken by the team “No Strikes to Spare” of the Consulate General of the United States of America in Almaty.
In total 19 teams participated in the tournament - from the Lithuanian and Ukrainian communities of Almaty in Almaty, the Consulates General of the United States of America, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Turkey and Lithuania, the Honorary Consuls of the EU KZ, Eurobak and 5 teams of event sponsors. The collected fee for participation in the tournament – 760 000 tenge (1450 euros) was transferred to the Society of People with Disabilities of the city of Kremenchug, Ukraine.
The event was supported and prizes were established by the Honorary Consuls of Lithuania in Kazakhstan, Lithuanian, Kazakh and Ukrainian business enterprises: “Libella Bottlers Almaty”, “Urbon Design”, “Stada”, “Arai Plaza”, “Meloman Group”, “Clinic Dr. Vovk”, “Tem Tour”, “Domus А”, “Golden Sunrise”, “Paulaner”, “Roshen”, “Bosca” and the Lithuanian community bowling team.
