Commemoration of the 230th anniversary of the May 3 Constitution
On 3RD November 2021 Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty Gvidas Kerušauskas participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Constitution of May 3 (1791)" organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Almaty which is dedicated to the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution in Europe. The exhibition will be on display at the State Central Museum of Kazakhstan until November 24 this year.
“3rd of May has a special significance for the history of Lithuania and Poland. 230 years ago, the Polish and Lithuanian parliamentarians on 3rd May of 1791 adopted the first written democratic constitution of the Republic of the Two Nations and later in 20 October confirmed its continuation by adopting law- the Mutual Vow of the Two Nations. It is also important for Lithuania that this Constitution was the first political and legal document published in Lithuanian language. The strategic partnership of our nations that has been established for several centuries and the friendly relations between our people are helping us to build a stronger Europe and at the same time to continue and deepen our strategic cooperation and meet today's challenges. Today, Lithuania and Poland are together in the region, in Europe and in the transatlantic space”, - noted G. Kerušauskas, during his speech.
