Commemoration of the May 3 Constitution and opening of an exhibition of solidarity with Ukraine
On May 2 Representatives of the Polish and Lithuanian communities together celebrated the 3rd anniversary of the Constitution at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Almaty. The Polish Consulate General in Almaty also prepared an exhibition to express Polish-Lithuanian solidarity and support for Ukraine. The exhibition was initiated by the Polish and Lithuanian Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The photos are posted on the fences marking the territory of the Polish and Lithuanian consulates general. This method allows greater accessibility and access to the exhibition for a larger number of Almaty residents.
In his speech, the Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty, Gvidas Kerušauskas, noted that “the Constitution of 3 May has a special significance for the history of Lithuania and Poland. It has begun a fundamental transformation of public administration and opened a new stage in the relations between Lithuania and Poland. It is also important for Lithuania that the Constitution was the first political and legal document published in Lithuanian. The ideals of equality and freedom enshrined in the Constitution of May 3 today encourage us to help our Ukrainian neighbors, with whom we share the historical experience of living in a common state. This is very important today, when Ukraine has been fighting against new Russian aggression for more than two months. It is difficult for a normal person to understand what is happening in Ukraine today, where Russia is bombing schools, hospitals, residential areas, killing, raping, robbing civilians when a third of the population has had to leave their homes. We must therefore show solidarity with and fully support Ukraine so that it can defend its citizens and the country's sovereignty. Slava Ukraine! ”
The Ukrainian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Petr Vrublevski took part in the commemoration, thanking Poland and Lithuania for their assistance in various areas and support during this difficult time for the country, as well as for providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Kazakhstan.
