Lithuania strengthens cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of transport
On September 19-22, 2022, the delegation of state transport companies headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport and communications of the Republic of Lithuania Julius Skackauskas, and the delegation of commercial companies organized by the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists visited Almaty. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Julius Skackauskas, together with members of the delegation as well, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Kazakhstan Gintautas Vasiulis, Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty Gvidas Kerusauskas met with Alisher Abdykadyrov, Deputy Mayor of Almaty.
During the meeting were discussed issues of cooperation in the spheres of economy, transport and culture. “Kazakhstan is a significant trading partner for Lithuania, and Almaty has an important role in trade and in the field of transport cooperation between our countries as well. More than 60 percent growth in trade turnover in the first half of 2022 shows that the importance of transport and logistics is growing significantly, and Kazakhstan is becoming increasingly important partner for Lithuania in the field of transport in Central Asia,” noted Deputy Minister J. Skackauskas. The Deputy Minister also met with the Deputy Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Idyrysov, took part in the opening of the International Transport and Logistics Exhibition "Translogistica Kazakhstan", visited the exhibition by itself, together with representatives of the diplomatic corps of Almaty, the Lithuanian community and industry of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, representatives of transport and logistics companies attended the reception at the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty.
The business delegation of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists and the Association of Transport Innovations, headed by the Vice President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, President of the Association "Linava" Romas Austinskas organized separate business breakfasts in Almaty with representatives of transport and logistics companies from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, met with Lithuanian entrepreneurs working in Kazakhstan in the Consulate general of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty, participated in B2B meetings with Kazakh companies, visited the “Translogistica Kazakhstan” exhibition.
The Association of Transport Innovations, headed by President J. Adomavicius, together with the companies “Bunasta”, “Spedilta”, “International Logistics Center”, “Transit Services Center”, “TVG Logistics”, “Vilteda” presented a joint exposition, which received the award "For the best joint stand”. At the exhibition were also presented stands of Lithuanian companies as: SE “Klaipeda State Sea Port Authority”, JSC "Lithuanian Railways"; “DLG”, “Arijus” and “TL Nika group”.
The partners in organizing the visit and meetings in Kazakhstan were the Kazakhstan Union of Carriers "Kazlogistics", the Almaty branch of the Kazakhstan National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken".
