Lithuanian-Kazakhstan Business Forum in Almaty

June 15 Lithuanian Minister of Transport Marius Skuodis and Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Kairbek Uskenbayev opened a Lithuanian-Kazakh business forum in Almaty, whit participation of 80 representatives of Kazakh business. Minister Minister M. Skuodis invited Kazakh businesspersons to cooperate more actively and to increase opportunities for cargo transportation by rail through Klaipeda Seaport. Together with the Minister of Transport and Communications, the heads of Klaipeda Seaport, Lithuanian Railways, the country's association “Linava” and the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists visited Kazakhstan on June 14–17.

"Both Lithuania and Kazakhstan are geographically at the crossroads; they must be overcome and exploited. Freight transportation by road, rail and sea, transportation of raw materials from Kazakhstan to Lithuania, digitization of transport and logistics, direct flights between the countries are topical issues on the bilateral agenda between Lithuania and Kazakhstan, ”said M. Skuodis.

A delegation of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, led by President Vidmantas Janulevičius, local business representatives from Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Atyrau, Taraz and other cities of Kazakhstan took part in the business forum. During the forum, two cooperation agreements were signed: between the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists and the Kazakh Union of Transporters of Kazakhstan and between the Lithuanian National Association of Road Carriers Linava and the Association of International Road Carriers of Kazakhstan KazATO.

In the evening, the Lithuanian delegation had the opportunity to continue discussions at the reception at the Lithuanian Consulate General in Almaty with Kazakh businesspersons and representatives of the diplomatic corps. The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lithuanian capital companies “Urbon design” and “Libella bottlers”, supported the event.

The Lithuanian-Kazakhstan Business Forum in Almaty was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty, with  support of the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport, Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Kazakhstan, Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, Transport Union of Kazakhstan “Kazlogistics”, the Almaty city branch of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken”  and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan.
