Opened the exhibition “Journey to the World of Čiurlionis: Harmony of Colors and Sounds”
On June 16, the Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty, Gvidas Kerušauskas, opened the exhibition “Journey to the World of Čiurlionis: Harmony of Colors and Sounds” at the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. „Today we have gathered here to honor the life of a visionary. Mikalojus Čiurlionis (1875–1911) was a Lithuanian composer, painter, choirmaster, cultural figure and writer. Although Čiurlionis lived for only 36 years, he created about 400 musical works and about 300 paintings, as well as many literary works and poems,” - noted the Consul General of Lithuania.
The welcoming speech was also delivered by the Head of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty, Ambassador at Large Zhanibek Abdrasov, and the Deputy Director of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan for General Affairs Serzhan Sarov. Later, the Counselor of the Consulate General Antanas Šatas told the assembled guests about the life and creative path of M. K. Čiurlionis. During the event, Rabiga Dyusembayeva, a senior lecturer at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, performed several works by the Lithuanian composer.
After the official part, the guests viewed reproductions of M. K. Čiurlionis’ paintings, through which the visitors of the exhibition could touch the mysterious and inspiring world, where harmony reigns between sound and light, reality and fantasy. The exhibition “Journey to the World of Čiurlionis: Harmony of Colors and Sounds” will be exhibited at the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan until this year. June 26.
