We support Ukraine!
On March 15, 2022 at the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Almaty, the Lithuanian community commemorated February 16 and March 11, and also paid tribute to Ukraine, which is fighting heroically against Russian aggression.
"We are free and happy, but Russia's aggression against Ukraine shows that freedom you need to defend. What is happening in Ukraine is difficult to understand. Russia is bombing and rocketing Ukrainian cities, hospitals, schools and killing thousands of civilians, including children. We must strengthen our state, be united and make every effort to help Ukraine fight the aggressor. We wish strength to Ukraine and believe that Ukraine will withstand it! - Consul General Gvidas Kerušauskas spoke. Support was also collected for Ukraine, which will be transferred to the Ukrainian Embassy in Nur Sultan.
During the event the winners of the children's drawing / poster competition "Kazakhstan - Lithuania, Friendship through the Eyes of Children" and their teachers were awarded. About 40 children from 4 Almaty city art schools took part in the competition and 15 of them became the winners of the competition. The winners were awarded prizes and letters of honor. It is gratifying that the children and teachers living in Almaty learned more about Lithuania and its history in preparation for the competition. The Consulate General plans to hold a similar competition next year.
